Meet The Lab
With a passion for science and a set of diverse skill, we're focused on moving the science of Burkholderia pseudomallei and melioidosis forward.
Christopher T. French
Assistant Professor, Assistant Director PMI, Director CTSC
An expert in host-pathogen interactions, Dr. French coordinates the activities of the CTSC. He received his Doctorate and postdoctoral training in bacterial pathogenesis from the UCLA. His independent research focuses on pathogenic mechanisms, ecology and developing new therapeutics for infectious diseases.
Paul Phillips
Ph.D. student
Paul Phillips MS is a computational biochemist with experience in conducting experiments concerning antimicrobial resistance both in vitro and in situ. Currently, he is investigating genetic relationships to phenotype in Burkholderia pseudomallei through genome wide association studies (GWAS).
Katie Zarn
Research Assistant
Katie Zarn MS is a molecular geneticist with experience in environmental DNA sampling and analyses, population genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics. She is currently investigating ecological relationships, virulence modulation, and biotic and abiotic factors of Burkholderia pseudomallei.
Expert Collaborators
Our extended network of scientists and clinicians helps us uncover the secrets behind Burkholderia pseudomallei ecology and pathogenesis.
